A theme park based on the makers of iconic video games such as Street Fighter, Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy is to open in the UAE this summer.
The company behind the project, Meraas, will work on the Hub Zero project with video game developers including Capcom, Konami, Square Enix and Electronic Arts.
The indoor park, at Dubai’s City Walk, will feature 18 attractions, along with a section dedicated to e-sports, where competitive video game playing becomes a spectator event.
Meraas is confident that Hub Zero – as the first indoor theme park based on video games – will be a huge success amid the fast-growing worldwide demand for gaming experiences.
In 2014, consumer spending on the global games industry was Dh80 billion, and economists expected a 10 per cent increase yearly.
Hub Zero will be spread over an area of about 15,000 square metres.
