Flickr updates its iOS and Android apps, adding new features like an Instagram-like video capture and a friendlier interface, making it easier to share pics. Version 3.0 of Flickr lets users capture video using the app, edit up to 30 seconds of video and apply the same filters that used on photos. Videos can be customized by chopping out bits the users doesn't want and shooting multiple segments in one video. "At the heart of our Flickr apps is a powerful mobile camera that makes it easy to take and share amazing photos in high resolution," Flickr Vice President Bernardo Hernandez wrote in a blog post Thursday. The camera section of the app now has 14 live filters, which tells the user how a photo will look before clicking it. The app also lets users tweak color balance, levels and exposure. The Flickr app has a new Auto Sync feature that automatically uploads photos to a user's Flickr account, which can hold 1TB or 500,000 photos. The search feature has been made much faster and photos can be searched using location, time, and other tags. For photography enthusiasts and professionals, Flickr now provides detailed picture information, including the location where the photo was taken, the camera model used, the camera's aperture and focal length settings, and other technical tidbits. "Flickr has always been about celebrating beautiful photography," Hernandez wrote. "Browse top trending photos within our Explore feature and discover new photographers to follow and places to go right from your phone."
