Apple is reportedly developing a 12.9-inch iPad, making it the company's largest tablet.
Production on the iPad Pro will start in the first quarter of next year. The tablet will measure 12.9 inches diagonally and be sold alongside the 9.7 iPad Air and the 7.9 inch iPad Mini, reports Bloomberg News. Apple is reportedly also working on split-screen multitasking capability to increase productivity.
The report comes just before the expected launch of the iPhone 6, which will both have bigger screens -- 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches.
The iPad is Apple's second best-selling product, but sales have dropped consistently over the last two quarters. The tech giant is hoping to get ahead of the market with the larger tablet.
"We're expecting larger tablets to do better," Jitesh Ubrani, an analyst at International Data Corporation (IDC), told Bloomberg.
