Crude oil prices closed higher Friday on the New York Mercantile Exchange, gaining 25 cents to $86.68 a barrel but were down for the week. Crude oil prices rode a roller coaster in intraday trading, fetching as much as $88.32 a barrel and trading as low as $82.87 a barrel. Crude oil prices were off 9.2 percent for the week. Gasoline picked up 7 cents, or 2.5 percent, and settled at $2.81 a gallon. Home heating oil added a nickel, or 1.7 percent, to $2.94 a gallon. Natural gas was flat $3.94 per million British thermal units. At the pump, the price for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline was $3.700, down from $3.703 on Thursday, AAA reported.
