Grand Imam of Al Azhar Dr Ahmed el Tayyeb met Tuesday with a group of intellectuals and scholars to discuss mechanisms and regulations of a new religious discourse.
The meeting, the second with intellectuals, focused on ways to protect society against extremist ideologies that threaten stability and security.
Allah has clearly stated differences as a feature of humans, Tayyeb said, noting that it is impossible to ask people to have the same opinion about one thing.
Tayyeb also stressed the need to unite in the face of enemies of the nation.
Al Azhar has taken the initiative to renew the religious discourse, he said, urging a collective action in this regard.
Al Azhar will communicate with all parties in order to issue a document to renew the religious discourse, Tayyeb added.
