1:54 Contemporary African Art Fair, the leading transnational platform dedicated to promoting contemporary art practices and projects from Africa and the African diaspora, returns to Pioneer Works in Brooklyn, New York from May 6–8, 2016.
Coinciding with Frieze Art Week, the second US iteration brings together 17 galleries from 9 countries, showcasing sixty of the most compelling voices in contemporary art today. Hailing from a multitude of geographies and working across a variety of media, the roster includes African and African diasporan artists such as Derrick Adams (USA); ruby onyinyechi amanze (Nigeria); Joel Andrianomearisoa (Madagascar); Sammy Baloji (DRC); Edson Chagas (Angola); Ayana V. Jackson (USA); William Kentridge (South Africa); Otobong Nkanga (Nigeria); and Billie Zangewa (South Africa).

FORUM
1:54's conversations series curated by Koyo Kouoh (Artistic Director of RAW Material Company, Dakar and Curator of the 37th edition of EVA International – Ireland's Biennial), will convene for a two day symposium. FORUM explores the imbricating fields of art, culture, theory and academia, inviting leading professionals working within these fields to contribute to a selected theme. Past speakers and panelists in the US edition have included: Rujeko Hockley (Assistant Curator of Contemporary Art at the Brooklyn Museum, New York); Naima J. Keith (Associate Curator at The Studio Museum in Harlem, New York); Julie Mehretu (artist); Franklin Sirmans (Director, Pérez Art Museum Miami); and Hank Willis Thomas (artist). More information about the 2016 FORUM programme will be released in April 2016.
