Group issues stamps in Braille
Dubai - WAM

For the first time in its history, Emirates Post Group has issued a set of postage stamps in Braille on the occasion of International White Cane Day on 15th October. The move aims to raise awareness of visually impaired people and services offered to ensure the safety of the blind in public places.

Ibrahim bin Karam, Chief Commercial Officer, said, "The stamps in Braille are aimed to highlight the capabilities of visually impaired people as well as the need for their integration into mainstream society, through closer interaction with normal students in schools and colleges. Emirates Post is delighted to support the cause of the blind."

The stamps are issued in coordination with Emirates Association for the Visually Impaired, and the Press for the Blind, run by the Zayed Higher Organisation for Humanitarian Care and Special Needs.

The commemorative stamps, issued in the denomination of Dh 3, carry the slogan "UAE with you" in different languages as well as in Braille. The stamps have been issued along with a First Day Cover at Dh7
