During Ramadan, it is common for many to erect tents in which friends, family and visitors gather after prayers. This in fact is one of the month\'s hallmarks and an annual tradition. But not all such tents follow standards that ensure their safety and hygiene. Hence the need to carry out inspections by the respective authorities, commented a UAE daily. The General Directorate of Civil Defence has announced its plan of dispatching teams to inspect Ramadan tents in Abu Dhabi. The inspections will include private tents and those in hotels and restaurants to ensure that safety requirements are adhered to. \"It is important that such inspections are carried out across all types and sizes of tents and standard rules are applied across the emirates. But besides setting these standards, various tent users should be informed and educated on the set rules, if the safety of all is to be secured\", said Gulf News in its today\'s editorial.
