Mohammad and Fatima are the most prevalent names in Qatar in 2010, official statistics indicate. According to the figures, there are 14,470 people named Mohammad, 8,878 named Abdullah and 6,507 named Ali. Hamad is fourth with 5,937 people, followed by Ahmad with 4,640, Khalid with 3,958, Nasser with 3,428, Abdul Rahman with 3,340, Rashed with 3,329 and Abdul Aziz with 3,127. Fatima is the most common name among Qatari women with 6,420, followed by Maryam with 6,311 and Noora with 6,249. There are 4,359 females called Aisha and 3,372 named Sarra. Shaikha (2,964), Haya (2,048), Mozah (1,899), Hessa (1,881) and Alanood (1,803) were also among the top ten, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported. The popularity of the names seemed to reflect a strong religious tendency with the Qatari society. Mohammad is the name of the Prophet (PBUH) and Fatima is his daughter who is widely respected and loved by Muslims.
