A delegation of Russian tour operators has paid a visit to Sousse, south of the capital Tunis, on organizing tourist tours to the city, local news outlets reported.

The first tourist flight is scheduled to arrive to the city on April 7, Tunisian Al Chourouk newspaper reported Friday.

Around eight flights are expected to arrive in Sousse weekly, which will contribute in boosting tourism in the tourist city amid the current slack.

The Russian delegation’s visit came amid the running Tunisian preparations for the new tourist season.

Tourism in Tunisia has receded by 19.1 percent from the beginning of the year to March 10, to reach 320,460 tourists, according to statistics of the Tunisian Ministry of Tourism.

European tourists dropped by 51.4 percent to 74,407, the data added.

Tourism sector in Tunisia was badly hit since the revolution of 2011. Damage in the tourist industry exacerbated amid the terrorist attacks targeted the country in 2015, along the security turmoil that Ben Gardane has witnessed on March 7, 2016.
