Iraqi President Fouad Massoum received on Tuesday an Iranian delegation led by First Vice President Ishaq Jahangiri where they discussed bilateral relations and the region's stability.
During the meeting, the Iraqi president warned that terrorism in Iraq would strike all countries unless efforts are taken to contain it.
He hailed the Iranian logistical support for his country to fight the terrorist group Daesh and stressed the importance of boosting economic, investment and agricultural relations with Iran.
For his part, the Iranian official conveyed the greetings of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and invited the Iraqi president to visit Iran.
An Iraqi statement had said Jahangiri and Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abad pledged during a meeting on Monday to continue cooperation in many areas such as energy, industry, trade, agriculture, transportation and tourism.
Jahangiri said Iran's political strategy was to support the unity and security of all Iraqi people and praised Iraqi troops for their gains against Daesh.
Iran will support building railways, petroleum pipelines and many other projects that will provide services for Iraq, Jahangiri said.
