The social dialogue project in the countries of the Southern Mediterranean shore and the examination of means likely to take advantage from the German experience in this field were at the centre of a meeting Wednesday evening in Berlin between Minister of Social Affairs Mohamed Trabelsi and President of the Confederation of German Trade Unions René Hoffman.
Hoffman said, on this occasion, for his first trip abroad after his election as head of the confederation was in Tunisia "because Tunisia has experience in dialogue with the three social partners," according to a statement published Thursday by the ministry.
He also stressed the importance of the "Industrial Relations" project, which is jointly carried out by the Tunisian and German social partners and which is part of the social dialogue project in the countries of the southern shore of the Mediterranean.
In turn, Minister of Social Affairs stressed the important role of the Confederation in promoting German investment in Tunisia, voicing wish to draw inspiration from the German experience in the field of social dialogue.
Germany has always been a great support to Tunisia during the democratic transition period, he said, noting that no German company has left the country since the revolution.
Launched in September 2016 by the European Union in collaboration with the International Union of Trade Unions, this three-year project aims to strengthen a comprehensive, dynamic and institutional social dialogue.
