Indonesian President Joko Widodo arrived in Iran's capital Tehran on Tuesday for talks on mutual economic and political ties, official IRNA news agency reported.
A high ranking delegation, including Indonesian politico-economic senior officials, is accompanying Widodo in his visit to Iran.
Widodo is scheduled to meet with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Majlis (parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani.
The visit to Tehran is so important that Iran may play an important role to develop dialogue between Economic Cooperation Organization and Association of South-East Asian Nations in different sectors, Widodo told IRNA earlier.
The Indonesian president said that Indonesia wants to encourage the two regional organizations to address the obstacles for economic cooperation and draw up an operational action plan.
