Arab League Council will convene an extraordinary meeting at the level of foreign ministers on May 28 under the chairmanship of Bahrain.
The meeting comes at an invitation from Arab League Secretary General Nabil el Arabi and will be attended by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
In statements on Tuesday, Arab League Deputy Secretary General Ambassador Ahmed Ben Helli said the meeting comes in light of consultations held between the Arab league chief and Bahraini Foreign Minister Sheikh Khaled Al Khalifa, whose country is the current chair of the Arab League Council.
The meeting will probe the latest developments in the Palestinian issue and the initiative launched by France to host an international peace conference at the end of May or early in June to address means of putting into effect the two-state solution and making a breakthrough in the current stalled Middle East peace process.
The meeting will also discuss the situation in Libya and the Arab role towards the political agreement reached among Libyan factions, the formation of the presidential council and the Libyan national consensus government, added Ben Helli.
He also made it clear that the meeting will discuss preparing the agenda of the coming Arab League summit that will be hosted by Mauritania, adding that preparations for the 27th Regular Arab Summit as Mauritanian President Mohammad Ould Abdel Aziz has started extending invitations to Arab leaders to attend the summit.
