Iraq's Prime Minister Haider al Abadi will visit Washington next month to discuss the ongoing fight against Daesh militant group.
The April 14 meeting will be al Abadi's first state visit to the United States since becoming prime minister in August.
The meeting with U.S. President Barack Obama is also expected to address broader cooperation between the United States and Iraq.
The U.S. is leading an international coalition of countries in an air campaign against Daesh fighters in Iraq and Syria.
Iraqi troops on the ground are teaming up with Shi'ite militias and Kurdish forces to push back the militant group, which seized part of the country, as well as a portion of Syria, last year.
