The direct charter flights from Japan to Luxor International Airport will be resumed on April 23 after years of hiatus, the honorary consul-general of Japan in Luxor Fawzy Tawfiq said Wednesday.
Tawfiq said the first flight is expected to arrive in Luxor with 230 tourists on board.
It was agreed to operate four preliminary flights on Saturdays for four weeks, Tawfiq said, adding that two flights a week would be operated as of October, coinciding with the new tourist season.
An owner of a tour operator to bring Japanese tourists into Egypt said his company clinched a deal with Japanese partners to operate Japan-Luxor direct charter flights, instead of using the Qatari airlines, and save the 48 hours the tourists waste at Doha airport.
