The elections to Japan’s upper house will take place on July 10, while the election campaigns will kick off June 22, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe confirmed Wednesday.
Speaking a press conference in the capital city of Tokyo, Abe added that there would be no early elections to the lower house of the country’s parliament to avoid having two parliamentary votes at the same time, according to local media reports.
It is reportedly expected that more than half of 242 lawmakers will be reelected at the July vote.
