The Malian president was invited to the inauguration ceremony of Egypt's new Suez Canal project on August 6 and promised to attend, Egypt's Ambassador here Nasser Hamzawy said.
The Malian president had attended the swearing-in ceremony of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in June 2014 and the Egypt Economic Development Conference in March 2015, Hamzawy told MENA.
Speaking about the security situation in Mali, the Egyptian envoy said it has improved remarkably since fighting parties signed a peace agreement on June 15.
Egyptian Deputy Foreign Minister for African Relations Hamdy Louza had attended the signing of the peace accord between the Malian government and separatists, he said, noting that an Egyptian army unit is participating in peacekeeping missions in the country.
Egypt supports Mali through the Egyptian Partnership Agency for Development to fund projects in the country and had dispatched medical teams.
