Russian President Vladimir Putin will travel to China on September 2 to take part in commemorations marking the 70th anniversary of the allied victory over Japan and the end of World War Two, TASS news agency reported.
During his two-day visit, Putin will hold talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping. "The leaders of the two countries will discuss development of bilateral ties, mainly with regard to implementing agreements reached during Xi Jinping’s visit to Russia in May and a meeting on the sidelines of the BRICS and SCO summits in [the Russian city of] Ufa in July," the Kremlin said.
Putin and Xi are expected to exchange views on current international and regional issues and on prospects for deepening cooperation within the United Nations, the Group of 20 leading economies, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation and other international organizations, the Kremlin said. The leaders will also discuss plans to link Beijing's Silk Road East-West trading route and the Moscow-led Eurasian Economic Union, it said.
The two sides will sign bilateral accords after talks.
The program for Putin’s visit will also feature bilateral meetings with other top officials gathering in Beijing for the anniversary of the Chinese people’s war of resistance against Japanese aggression.
The Chinese leader was in Moscow in May to attend Russia's commemorative parade on Red Square.
