A delegation from the Civil Aviation Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan is due in Egypt by the end of April for talks on means of launching a direct Sharm el Sheikh-Baku airline, the Azeri envoy to Egypt said on Thursday.
The measure is meant to increase the number of Azeri tourists which stood at 7,000 last year, Tural Rzayev said during a meeting with reporters.
He noted that 13 Azeri reporters have visited Egypt recently at an invitation from the Egyptian Tourism Authority to get acquainted with tourist destinations, especially Sharm el Sheikh.
He expressed keenness on enhancing political, economic, trade and cultural cooperation with Egypt in the coming period.
He expected the joint committee to convene in Cairo this year to review means of enhancing bilateral cooperation in various domains and establishing joint ventures.
He said the volume of trade exchange between Egypt and Azerbaijan stood at 4 billion dollars during the past four years, voicing hope that it would witness a leap in the coming period.
