British actor Eddie Redmayne's BAFTA acceptance speech Sunday included an anecdote about how he suffered from food poisoning at the same London event three years ago.
Redmayne won the British equivalent of the Oscar for Best Actor for his portrayal of ALS-afflicted theoretical physicist and author Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything.
"I was lucky enough to come to the BAFTAs three years ago and I was suffering from a severe bout of food poisoning and just as [show host] Stephen [Fry] came on to start announcing the awards, I had to bolt through that door there and I proceeded to redecorate the corridor of the Royal Opera House in an incredibly unfortunate fashion. It was one of worst nights of my life. This is one the best nights of my life, so thank you so much," Redmayne said as he collected his award.
