Sources have told Arabstoday that the Syrian singer Mayada el-Hennawy has arrived in Beirut after being invited by OTV television station to record a special television segment that will be aired on the Muslim holy festival of Eid al-Fitr. The sources said that Mayada participated in a musical duo with George Zuheib, on the song “Ana Bashaak” (I adore you). Mayada said she admired his voice and said she would love to work with him again. Mayada has been the the target of criticism in recent months for her public support of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Recently Mayada renewed her defense of the Syrian regime, and attacked artists who criticised al-Assad, like Syrian songstress Asalah Nasry. Mayada said that she was surprised that many Syrians were remaining silent during the country's unrest, and suggested they were cowards for not speaking up.
