Zoe Saldana, Elle Fanning and Sienna Miller have been cast in Live by Night.
The film is based on Dennis Lehane's 2012 novel of the same name, and will be directed by Ben Affleck. The actor made his directorial debut with an adaptation of the author's book Gone Baby Gone in 2007.
Live by Night is set during Prohibition in 1926, and follows Joe Coughlin, the son of a Boston police captain, as he becomes involved in organized crime. Miller will portray the character's love interest and girlfriend to his mobster boss, while Saldana will play a woman Coughlin meets in Tampa. Fanning has been cast as Loretta Figgis, the sheriff's daughter and an aspiring actress.
Affleck will produce the movie though his company Pearl Street Films, with Appian Way's Jennifer Killoran Davisson and Leonardo DiCaprio. DiCaprio starred in Martin Scorsese's adaptation of Lehane's novel Shutter Island, and he, Scorsese and Lehane have a prequel series to the film in the works at HBO.
Saldana last appeared as Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy, and Fanning portrayed Aurora in Maleficent earlier this year. Miller will star alongside Bradley Cooper in Clint Eastwood's American Sniper in 2015.
