Saban Films says it has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to director Philip Martin's thriller The Forger, starring John Travolta and Christopher Plummer.
Travolta will play the title character, who is released from prison so he can spend time with his dying son, then is coerced into participating in a museum heist.
Co-starring Tye Sheridan, Abigail Spencer, Marcus Thomas and Jennifer Ehle, the movie will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival Friday. A theatrical release date has not been announced yet.
"John Travolta was brilliant as a criminal who would go to any means to protect his son," Saban Films President Bill Bromiley said in a statement Wednesday. "We look forward to working with Travolta and the talented team behind The Forger on the U.S. release."
Saban Films previously announced it had acquired at the festival Tracers, an action-thriller starring Taylor Lautner and Marie Avgeropoulos.
