Jason Segel stars in a trailer for new biopic The End of the Tour.
The 35-year-old actor portrays late author David Foster Wallace, with Jesse Eisenberg as writer David Lipsky.
The movie dramatizes the real-life road trip Wallace took with Lipsky for the latter's article on the author for Rolling Stone. The preview sees the pair bond as they travel and explore Wallace's creative inspiration.
The End of the Tour is directed by James Ponsoldt, and inspired by Lipsky's book Although of Course You End Up Becoming Yourself: A Road Trip with David Foster Wallace. Wallace's family and trust issued a statement declaring they "neither endorse nor support" the film in 2014.
"[Lipsky's] article was never published and David would never have agreed that those saved transcripts could later be repurposed as the basis of a movie," the statement read. "We do not consider it an homage."
Wallace is known for such works as Infinite Jest and Brief Interviews with Hideous Men. The author died of suicide by hanging at age 46 in 2008, and his final, unfinished novel, The Pale King, was posthumously published in 2011.
