US comedian Jerry Seinfeld, who shot to international stardom in the award-winning TV sitcom "Seinfeld", returns to the stage next year with a residency in New York.
He will perform once a month at the Beacon Theatre in "Jerry Seinfeld: The Homestand," for which the tickets for the first six shows will go on sale next Monday.
"Comedians live for certain houses that just feel 'alive' for some reason," said Seinfeld. "The Beacon is that place for me and I am so excited to make it my new home."
The 61-year-old multi-millionaire won fame with 1990s semi-autobiographical comedy series "Seinfeld," which he co-created with Larry David and which ran to nine seasons on NBC.
The 2,800-seat Beacon on the Upper West Side is a revered New York theater, which in 2008 underwent restoration work to recapture its original 1929 grandeur.
"Jerry Seinfeld is one of the most influential and respected comedians of all time," said James Dolan, executive chairman of The Madison Square Garden Company, which owns the theatre.
"As a renowned New Yorker whose brand of comedy is rooted in the Big Apple, we are honored to welcome Jerry to The Beacon."
Seinfeld lives in New York with his wife and children. He remains an active comedy stand-up performer.
The first performance will be on January 7, and ticket prices range from $79 to $175, the Beacon announced.
