Canadian singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen is to release Popular Problems, his 13th studio album, on Sept. 23, two days after his 80th birthday, Columbia Records announced Tuesday.
"Yet again, Leonard Cohen has broken musical boundaries with new creative inspiration," Rob Stringer, the record label's chairman and chief executive officer, said in a statement.
"These nine new songs are simply sublime and innovative with a unique spirit. We're absolutely thrilled and honored to celebrate this milestone with him."
The album is available for pre-order now. It was co-written and produced by Patrick Leonard.
Cohen's canon of well-known songs includes Suzanne, Bird on the Wire and Hallelujah.
