Liam Neeson is expanding his horizons as he reportedly signs on to play a U.S. Army General Douglas MacArthur in Taewon Entertainment's upcoming Korean War flick.
Variety reports that Neeson will play MacArthur in Operation Chromite, a historical drama covering the events which took place before the Incheon Landing Operation during the Korean War between 1950-1953.
Operation Chromite will follow the story of eight Korean soldiers who participated in the covert "X-ray" operation before the historic military campaign that altered the momentum of the war.
The movie will be directed by Lee Jae-han and written by Lee Man-hee.
"We plan to go into the production process in late September with a production cost of 15 billion won (US$12.62 million)," Jeong Tae-won, head of the production company, told Yonhap News. A press conference will take place to promote the movie on the Incheon Landing's anniversary on Sept. 15, Jeong said.
Neeson will travel to South Korea for filming, Yonhap reports.
Operation Chromite is expected for release in 2016.
