Actress Marisa Tomei is currently in talks with Sony Pictures and Marvel studios to play Aunt May in the upcoming Spider-Man film.
Variety is reporting the 50-year-old actress is the choice to play Peter Parker's aunt and guardian Aunt May in the latest reboot of the franchise. The exact details of the deal, reportedly made sometime last week, haven't been released.
While Sony and Marvel have not said anything about Tomei in the role, they recently did pick Tom Holland for the title role. The studios also mentioned a cameo by Tom Holland as Spider-Man will be featured in the upcoming Captain America movie.
Yahoo reports that aside from the search for the rest of the cast, Sony is looking for another screenwriter to join Jon Watts, as well as other actors who could appear in other films over time.
Neither Marvel nor Sony have made any official comments about casting or the film's plot. Tomei will appear next alongside Amy Schumer in the comedy Trainwreck.
