British actress Ophelia Lovibond has landed a recurring role on the detective drama series Elementary, CBS announced.
The former star of the U.K. comedies The Wilsons and Mr. Sloane will make her debut in the Season 3 premiere of Elementary.
She will play Kitty Winter, Sherlock Holmes' new apprentice in New York, who immediately becomes rivals with her predecessor Joan Watson.
"Kitty's reasons for undertaking Holmes' partnership are nebulous, and her new arrangement with Sherlock will have ongoing repercussions for his relationship with Joan," the network said in a news release.
Elementary is a contemporary re-telling of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's classic, 19th century mysteries. It stars Jonny Lee Miller as Holmes and Lucy Liu as Watson.
