Susan Sarandon, Rose Byrne, Cecily Strong, Jerrod Carmichael and Michael McKean are to star in The Meddler, a film written and directed by Lorene Scafaria.
Sony Pictures Classics said it will theatrically release the movie in North America after it has its world premiere at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival next month.
Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions secured the global rights to the film prior to the start of the production and will distribute the movie internationally.
Press notes said the story follows Marnie Minervini, a "recent widow and eternal optimist," as she moves from New Jersey to Los Angeles to be closer to her daughter.
"Armed with an iPhone and a full bank account, Marnie sets out to make friends, find her purpose, and possibly open up to someone new," the synopsis said.
