Selena Quintanilla will be honored with a new M.A.C. Cosmetics collection in 2016.
The company announced the late singer is the inspiration behind a limited edition M.A.C. Selena Quintanilla makeup line on social media Thursday.
"Like the legend herself, Selena Quintanilla's fans are an inspiration to us all for their love and enthusiasm," the company wrote. "It's happening! We are excited to announce the M.A.C. Selena Quintanilla collection, available in 2016."
Quintanilla released her debut solo album, Selena, in 1989, and skyrocketed to fame in the early 1990s. She was celebrated as the "Queen of Tejano" music, but her career was cut short when she was shot to death by fan club president Yolanda Saldivar at age 23 in 1995.
"Selena's talent and beauty, inside and out, have left a colorful, meaningful impact in the world that has continued to grow over the last two decades," M.A.C. creative director James Gager told People. "We have heard the passion and enthusiasm from her fans and wholeheartedly agree that her legacy embodies M.A.C.'s philosophy."
Quintanilla's sister, Suzette Quintanilla, added, "Helping to create this collection brings me back to all those late-night conversations on our tour bus when she spoke of having her own makeup line one day. If Selena were here she would be beyond ecstatic to have this happening. History is being made."
Suzette Quintanilla and her family also plan to create a hologram of Selena able to record and perform songs. She confirmed the Selena the One project in April, saying, "By no means is this something that's creepy or weird. We think it's something amazing."
