Taye Diggs returned to Broadway Wednesday and began his 12-week stint in Hedwig and the Angry Inch.
Hedwig is the 2014 Tony Award winner for Best Musical Revival. The show, which is playing at the Belasco Theatre, previously starred Neil Patrick Harris and Darren Criss as the titular transgender singer.
"Internationally ignored song stylist' Hedwig Robinson brings her fourth-wall-smashing rock 'n' roll saga to New York to set the record straight about her life, her loves, and the botched operation that left her with that 'angry inch,'" press notes said.
Hedwig marks Diggs' first New York stage role since the 2005 revival of A Soldier's Play. His other stage credits include Carousel, Rent, Wicked, Chicago and The Wild Party.
The Private Practice alum can also be seen in TNT's small-screen crime drama Murder in the First.
