Will Smith will reportedly executive produce a Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reboot.
The 46-year-old actor and his Overbrook Entertainment production company are being linked to the new series by TV Line. Sources told the website a pitch is being finalized and will be shopped in the coming weeks, but original network NBC is not yet attached.
Deadline reports, however, the program will be a "fish out of water show in the spirit of Fresh Prince" and not an actual reboot. Insiders told the website the series will be a "new show with new characters and a new setting."
Smith starred as a fictionalized version of himself, the titular "Fresh Prince," on the sitcom for a six-season run from 1990 to 1996. The program follows the Philadelphia-born teenager as he adjusts to life with his uncle and aunt (James Avery, Janet Hubert-Whitten) in Beverly Hills.
News of the possible revival comes amid word Smith may only executive produce, and not star, in Bad Boys 3. The actor last appeared in Focus with Margot Robbie, and is scheduled for Suicide Squad with Jared Leto and Collateral Beauty with Rooney Mara.
