"El Wahrani" feature film awarded Jury Grand Prize at 14th Brussels Mediterranean Film Festival
BRUSSELS-Lyes Salem's feature film "El Wahrani" (native of Oran) was awarded on Friday the Grand Jury Prize at the 14th Brussels Mediterranean Film Festival, held from 5 to 12 December in the Belgian capital, the site of the festival announces.
This 120-minute film recounts the story of two friends and camarades, Hamid and Jafar, who find themselves at the end of the National Liberation War to build, at their respective levels, independent Algeria.
Khaled Benaissa, who won the best actor award for the same film at 25th Carthage Summer Film Festival (JCC), held from November 29 to December 6, 2014, embodies the role of Hamid, a young diplomat who came back to Oran to marry and hold an important political position post after traveling worldwide in search of foreign support for the national cause.
"El Wahrani" was nominated among 8 other feature films, dubbed by organizers "best film productions."
