Actor Khaled Al-Braiki said participation of the Kuwaiti film "Kan Refeeji" (he was my friend) at 36th Cairo International Film Festival put the Kuwaiti movie-making on the international cinema map.
Al-Braiki expressed in a statement to KUNA his satisfaction for choosing of the film among eight Arab films to participate in the festival, adding that it is "a real step that opens prospects towards development of Kuwait's film industry." He pointed out that the Cairo International Film Festival is one of the 10 most important film festivals in the world.
The movie was displayed for six weeks in about 550 shows, and had "a great unexpected success in Kuwait," he added.
Al-Braiki expressed appreciation for the Kuwait National Cinema Company, headed by Hisham Al-Ghanim, for the support and praised the great development witnessed by the Arab cinema.
Now, the Arab films compete in many international festivals, he said.
For his part, film director Ahmed Al-Khalaf in a similar statement to KUNA expressed pleasure for participating in the Cairo International Film Festival, stressing that it is one of the most prominent film festivals in the world.
The Kuwaiti film is authored by Yarub Bourahmah and produced by Light Bug Media Productions company.
