Algerian actor Nabil Asli has been remarkable by interpreting the role of a man tormented by his sterility in the feature film "la prevue” “Proof) directed by fellow Amor Hakkar, screened Friday night in Algiers in official competition of the 2nd Maghreb Film Festival.
For his second major role in cinema after "The repentant" (2012) of Merzak Allouache, the young actor dominated the screen in the role of Ali, a taxi driver from Khenchela (east of Algiers), completed to sacrifice his family happiness because of his shame to confess his inability to have children.
In this 95mn film dealing with rarely discussed social issue, Amor Hakkar has chosen to base the frame on the consequences of Ali’s lies, wrongly accused of having impregnated a young woman he transported from Batna where had gone to perform medical tests without the knowledge of his wife.
Loving stepfather of two little girls that his wife had in a prior marriage, Ali is faced with the dilemma of confessing sterility by showing the test results or going to jail for having cheating on his wife.
"We worked hard on the details for each scene with director and co-writer Florance Bouteloups," said Nabil Asli speaking of this emotional role.
