London - Arab Today

International percussion master, Pete Lockett, is creating a huge noise once more, only this time it’s not only with his drums. Having released his debut novel only a month ago, Lockett has been on a whirlwind media tour as radio and newspapers clamour for interviews. His novel, A Survivor’s Guide to Eternity, has sparked huge interest and now it seems everyone is chasing him for interviews. The book, which presents a humorously philosophical view of reincarnation and the afterlife, has been greeted with wide critical acclaim and once more propels Lockett into the media spotlight. “I’m really pleased with the interest,” said Pete. “It's amazing to see this project, written about in so many places around the world, catch everyone's imagination to such a degree.” Pete is not unfamiliar with media attention, having played with some of the biggest names in the music industry including Robert Plant, Jeff Beck and The Verve, and such diverse gigs as with the BBC Concert Orchestra, AR Rahman and DJ Judge Jules. He also provided all of the ethnic percussion on five James Bond Movies and on more television programmes and pop tracks than he can remember. Finding time to write a full novel while resting between gigs or in the back of a tour bus was not easy, but the result is a truly startling book that has been compared to Alice in Wonderland with a touch of Douglas Adams. One London newspaper defined it as 'creating its own genre'. “I’ve had to set a few weeks to one side specifically for promoting this,” continued Pete. “There's a real groundswell of interest.” ‘A Survivor’s Guide to Eternity’ is published by Mirador Publishing and is available in all good bookshops and online retailers, both as a paperback and as an eBook in all major formats.
