Youssef Msakni (C) scored the winner
Esperance moved to the brink of reaching the CAF Champions League final after claiming a 1-0 victory over Sudanese giants Al-Hilal in Oum Durman on Sunday.
A fourth-minute goal by attacking midfielder Youssef
Msakni gave the Tunisian league title holders a crucial away win ahead of the second leg in Tunisia on 15 October.
Esperance, who are eyeing their first Champions League triumph since 1994, are now favourites to reach the final for the second consecutive season, having lost to TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo last year.
Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca secured a 1-0 victory at Nigerian outfit Enyimba in the first-leg of the other semifinal on Saturday.
