Kurdistan region of Iraq, in cooperation with the Department of Cinema and Theater in the Ministry of Culture, prepares to present " Dark Wind " film, on August 10, 2017, at National Theater by open invitation to the public in Baghdad.
The 90-minute film, nominated for the Oscars by the Iraqi Republic, was composed by Hussein Hassan, Mamad Aktash and directed by Hussein Hassan, starring of Rekesh Shahbaz and Deman Zand and both heroes from Duhok, and two of the seventh art stars in Iraqi Kurdistan.
In an exclusive interview with official website of department of cinema and theater, the authorized person to make statements about the film in the ministry of culture and youth in Kurdistan, Miran Dezya, said that the movie had participated in several festivals, including the International Film Festival, the Miami International Film Festival, the 360-degree Cinema Competition, the Belgrade International Festival.
He added that the film received several awards, including best film in Dubai Festival, the Audience Award, best film in Fizol Festival, best actress from the Los Angeles Festival, the Fabrice Award in Dhaka Film Festival, the Cultural Diversity Award from Asia Pacific Screen.
Mr. Dezya explains the idea of the film, which deals with the capture of Yazidis by the forces of darkness (ISIS), in a unique social discourse, with the idea of taking, implementing and directing a young man who is looking for his beloved, who was kidnapped by a chaser after entering Sinjar.
He pointed out that the film was filmed in very dangerous areas and was already occupied by ISIS, including Mosul Dam, Sinjar and the outskirts of Dohuk, with special protection of the Peshmerga forces to the film staff to ensure the director to get closer to the truth and the reality of the event.
