Elegant and stylish designs inspired by batik, 'tenunan' (weaving) and songket, graced the catwalk during the 'Busana Syawal' fashion show held at the Craft Complex in the capital today.
The collection featured 64 pieces from eight local designers based on their creative interpretation of 'Baju Kurung', 'Kurta' and 'Baju Kebaya', both in classic as well as modern twist, for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
Malaysian Handicraft Development Corporation (MHDC) director-general Datuk Zuraida Mokhtar said the designs featured in the collection were infused with fresh elements and expected to attract people to continue to wear batik, 'tenunan' and songket.
