The Berlin Fashion Week kicked off here on Tuesday, with arrays of men's and women's spring/summer collections created by both local and international talents.
Fashion fans, industry professionals and celebrities have gathered in front of Berlin's landmark Brandenburg gate on Tuesday to enjoy the biannual fashion event.
Israeli-born designer Daniel Blechman opened the fashion week by presenting a new collection of his menswear label on the runway. The catwalk presentation featured a line comprising T-shirts, short pants and tailored shirts, which are dominated by solid color and a simple cut.
Applying rich colors, floral prints and super feminine designs, Austrian female fashion creator Lena Hoschek continued her retro style in her new collection, mixing with idyllic and romantic elements by using straw hats and wreaths of flowers.
The fashion week, sponsored by Mercedes-Benz, will last till July 10 and host over 50 fashion shows, with fashion labels and major brands showing their latest spring/summer collections.
Besides, fashion salons, after show parties, exhibitions and numerous off-site events are also to be held during the fashion week.
The Berlin Fashion Week is held twice annually (in January and July) in the German capital. Started in summer 2007, it has gained increasing attention in recent years for having many creative young designers who are flourishing with vibrant designs and innovative ideas.
