High collars on tweed aviatior coats and chain-enlaced biker boots
Chanel certainly made an impression at Paris Fashion Week with its ready-to-wear collection. With a huge globe sitting in the centre of the Grand Palais, it was definitely clear the message
they were sending out: we rule the fashion world.High collars on tweed aviatior coats, fluffy pink and teal hats to match and chain-enlaced biker boots were the standout pieces of this year’s collection. There were also a lot of glossy patent styles riding high up the leg to meet a mini or pleated skirt and more coats in pink and black. The coats were either belted or cocoon-soft to reiterate the streamlined and aerodynamic shapes that were the focus here.
There were slit-front skirts to show off shorter ones beneath and gaiters worn with flat brogues - layers making up the Chanel wardrobe for autumn/winter 2013-14. Tweed tunic tops sat over crisp white shirts to make for a clever take on a rugby shirt and skater skirts swung on by as the models orbited the world, just as the clothes will soon too.
Little Chanel bags were boxy and bright in pink and yellow and blue or were small globe. This collection was miles ahead of its competitors.
