Madonna in concert
Madonna kicked off her “MDNA” concert with the song \"Vogue\" wearing a recreation of her iconic Jean Paul Gaultier conical corset. It’s been 22 years since Madonna‘s “Blonde Ambition” tour
introduced the world to the cone bra. So, the legendary Jean Paul Gaultier design was ready for a revamp. When describing the updated look, Gaultier said: “We played with the ideas of a suit and a corset. But the corset is now like a cage. What I have done this time is a nod to the conical bra corset of the Blonde Ambition tour but reinterpreted it in 3-D, in patent leather on the outside with metallic leather on the inside. It’s all about masculine and feminine, Madonna and Jean Paul Gaultier classics reinterpreted for 2012.”
The star, now 53, sported the famous soft pink cone-cupped bustier over pinstripe suit trousers for her performance of Vogue during the controversial 1990 tour. Back then, the ensemble brought together a white shirt, long, black opera gloves and a skeletal-shaped corset over a similar trouser suit. This time around the eccentric French designer transformed the look by emphasising the rigidity of the corset even further and playing with the contrast of masculinity and femininity.
