Retro palette
At the French house Rochas, designer Marco Zanini drew on the 1970's to wrap his models head to toe in autumnal colour and prints, right down to their opaque tights in patterned red or gold. For Rochas's
Autumn/Winter 2012 collection, Marco Zanini culled inspiration from the midcentury ceramics of Swedish artist Wilhelm Kåge, highlighting a range of colourful suits and separates. While the focus was on ladylike dressing, Zanini injected a quirky touch into every look, pairing printed tights with boucle coats, patterned pencil skirts, and the geek chic glasses to match. Highlights included the well-tailored suits and skirts; the latter featured a range of full and form-fitting shapes.
There was barely a white or black in sight as Zanini worked through a retro palette from mustard to rust and aquamarine, matching demure ribbed sweaters or brocade tunics with pleated A-line skirts or flared pants, hair in wispy ponytails and outsized shades.
