New \'app\' allows UAE patients to interact with doctors online
Dubai – Arab Today
The Dubai Heath Authority (DHA), have come up with an iPhone and iPad application which will allow patients to review their appointments and check laboratory results at the touch of a button
.
According to Khawala Lootah, head of corporate applications at the DHA, the app will list all government hospitals, their contact information and services.
Parents will be able to see their children’s vaccination results, and will get a reminder update if one is due, Ms Lootah said.
The online application, available at the App Store in the next three weeks will allow patients to call up medical results instantly.
Meanwhile, Director General of the DHA, Qadhi Saeed Al Murooshid, said health professionals seeking work will be able to obtain a medical license via an online regulatory system – which will provide a fasr and paperless system, he added.
Murooshid said, “It saves time and is cost-effective because healthcare practitioners no longer need to come to Dubai to apply for a licence or take exams.”
Dr Ramadan Ibrahim, director of health regulation at the DHA said, applicants will be screened online, based on their experience and credentials. These will be checked through a ‘primary source verification’ system, which will be monitored by an international organisation.
If successfully applicants will be notified electronically.
The DHA announced the launch of its Twitter and Facebook pages in August, which will show events such as awareness campaigns and free screenings.
