Al Qasba, Sharjah’s popular family and tourist spot, welcomed the New Year with a performance of African drumming at the foot of the Eye of the Emirate wheel, one of the most prominent landmarks in Sharjah and highest Ferris wheel in the region. A large crowd of visitors converged on the area and enjoyed Al Qasba’s activities and facilities till late night.
On New Year’s Eve, Al Qasba’s celebrations started at 8:30 pm with two interactive drumming sessions, which attracted adults and kids alike. Adding to the celebratory mood, stilt walkers made their way among the crowds to keep young and old entertained and distribute colorful balloons to the children.
Few minutes before midnight, the celebrations came to a crescendo, with Al Qasba’s outdoor screen countdown letting everyone join in to count down to 2015 followed by the sounds of African rhythms as the energetic performers drummed in the new year.
Al Qasba boasts a range of state-of-the-art facilities and tourist attractions including, among others, various restaurants and cafes, the 250-seat Masrah Al Qasba-Theatre, Multaqa Al Qasba-Conference and Meeting Halls, Al Qasba Business Centre, Kids Fun Zone, Al Qasba Musical Fountain, Eye of the Emirates Wheel, and the Maraya Art Centre.
Al Qasba is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2015. The Emirate’s vibrant tourism and entertainment destination has become one of Sharjah’s landmarks and one of its most visited sites due to its highly attractive and popular activities for every member of the family.
