Forces were sent to the airport to prevent clashes
Dozens of rank and file airport police officers demonstrated outside Borg El Arab International airport against the suspension and transfer of 10 officers.
The protesting officers chanted slogans against the director of
airport security and demanded the suspension be lifted, threatening further strike action if their demands were not met.
46 of the officers have tendered their resignation to the ministry of the interior. Other protesting officers blocked workers from accessing the airport.
The Security authorities of Alexandria sent forces and police officers, to prevent any clashes between individuals and the officers.
Mohammed Rifai, Chief of Detectives in Port of Alexandria said; "Individuals must respect the law, the airport can not operate without officers, and what happened in Borg El Arab does not happen at any airport in the world.”
