Luxury hotel The Oberoi, Gurgaon
A hotel near New Delhi designed after a mirrored jewelry box has been named the leading luxury hotel in Asia at an event known as the Oscars of the travel industry. At the World Travel Awards Asia and Australasia, which took
place in Dubai this week, travel agents and experts from around the world voted The Oberoi Gurgaon Asia’s leading luxury hotel over other landmark properties such as The Peninsula Hong Kong, the Four Seasons Shanghai, and Raffles Singapore among others.
Designed to evoke “height, light and space,” one of the signature features is landscape windows to maximize natural light and offer guests views of the property’s Olympic-sized reflection pool and landscaped gardens.
Rooms come with personalized butlers, while the hotel boasts a cigar lounge and a fleet of BMWs that can be used for chauffeur services.
Not far off, the Trident Gurgaon was named Asia’s leading hotel also for its landscaped gardens, courtyards, reflection pools and fountains.
Taking the title of Asia’s leading carrier was Malaysia Airlines, while Air New Zealand took the top spot for Australasia.
Air Asia was named the best low-cost airline.

Meanwhile, last week frequent flyers named Singapore Airlines the best airline at the Business Traveller Asia-Pacific Awards and voted the Grand Hyatt the best business hotel brand in the world.
Winners of the World Travel Awards Grand Final will be announced November 30 in Doha, Qatar.
