A small shop is located in the corner of the Dana Reserve includes products produced by women from different nature reserves in Jordan include jewelery, herbs, jams, soap, ostrich eggs and others. The nature shop is located in all reserves in Jordan, contains the same products under the slogan "We help nature ... we help people".
Shadia al-Khawaldeh, who works at the nature shop in the Dana Reserve, who has a bachelor's degree in English, said she enjoyed her work at the nature store in the reserve and welcomed citizens and tourists who wanted to buy different products from the reserve, noting that her work in the store contributed in developing her personality.
The Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN) confirmed that it believes in the need to provide a base for the alternative economy to help communities improve their quality of life. In this context, RSCN is developing programs in ecotourism and various productive projects, through which it will provide employment opportunities for the poorest communities in Jordan by providing tangible benefits to nature protection. RSCN seeks to establish social awareness and acceptance, reflecting increasingly popular support for their work in the protection of nature.
The Society offers nature-inspired products, which are produced by local women in handicrafts workshops, as part of the community economic development program. The society operates sixteen sustainable operators of handicrafts that have been established in the last decade. Handicrafts are distributed around protected areas and environmentally important areas in an attempt to spread the benefits of these workshops to as many communities as possible.
These workshops help preserve nature by providing jobs and new sources of income that do not put pressure on the sources of the natural environment. They are based on the optimal utilization of the natural resources of the region to achieve sustainable economic and social benefits for local communities. These workshops employ more than 60 women from communities empowered by providing them with the skills needed to produce high quality handcrafts
